The trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is nearing the release date of their new full-length album, Beat The Devil’s Tattoo. 

Their fifth studio album(released March 9th US) will be accompanied by small-venue US tour, followed by some dates in Europe in the Spring.  Reminiscent of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, mixed with Velvet Underground and The Stones; they have a style of their own that will make you want to buy a new leather jacket and light up a Marb Red.

I was introduced to Emily Dyan Ibarra on a bad whiskey night, at a Portugal. The Man show, in the mountains of Colorado. 

After taking on the task of photographing some of the guys nearly nude, she diligently looked for photo ops and worked the merch booth.  Honestly, what more could a band ask for?  She possesses the raw talent to truly live the dream and the eye to create amazing art through captured images.

I also respect a photographer who  endures cramped vans, over-occupied hotel rooms, fast-food clad diets, and countless nights on the road to capture the images of life on tour.

Especially one that’s a cute chick who can hold her liquor.

She’s worked with: Portugal. The Man, Chris Conley(of Saves the Day), Minus The Bear, MC Lars, Dr. Helicopter, RX Bandits and most recently professional parkour and skateboarding athletes.

Monsters of Folk have finally wrapped up and released their first album after five years of playing together. 

It’s not that surprising being that the band consists of Conor Oberst, M. Ward, Yim Yames(Jim James), and Mike Mogis.

All having successful other projects going while creating this masterpiece of folk music.

For the last THREE years Tucker Max’s book ‘I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell’ has been on the top of the New York Times Best Seller List.

Why? Sheer entertainment. Its frat-dick humor, or ‘frattire’ if you will, which is usually not my typical read. When I bought this book last year I read it from front to back in one sitting, only stopping to piss myself laughing.

Now, despite the criticism and controversy this book has been made into a film which opened last week in LA and received mixed reviews.

I read about this guy in the Denver Post one morning and went immediately to YouTube. 

Call it monkey business, call it skateboarding, call it parkour.  Whatever you call it;  it is certainly amazing.

Three years after their last album, ‘The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me‘, Brand New’s 4th full length hits shelves and music sites September 22nd, 2009. 

After carefully listening to the album in full, a few words that I would use to describe it would be: complex, dark, and different.  A little more scream, a little more aggressive, and a great amount of progression.

With the release of this album they’re taking it back to their roots and embarking on a small-club US tour playing dates with Manchester Orchestra, Glassjaw, Thrice, and Crime in Stereo.

My friend Steven Saenz got drunk one night with some friends and shot this awesome short film.   

After watching I now look over my shoulder when I walk down the street at night and sleep with the covers over my head to avoid the possible horrors of being attacked by Plate Face!

This film is certainly what happens when you mix creative people, a Sony 3-chip video camera, a Mac, and beer.
