This is way above rap, like the protagonist of the documentary is somehow above this earth. To me Lil’ Wayne is a true genius, an artist with the stress on ART. Of course this doesn’t surface so well when the songs are about champagne and/or metaphorical lollipops.
There are a lot of songs,that doesn’t make it to the TV, which are deep.Still like I said it’s about more than music and this is where Weezy‘s true brilliancy is best observed: in interviews.
The Carter Documentary shows it all: interview, music and a lot more. There sure will be a lot of quotables in this movie.
