Terrible Yellow Eyes – Art inspired by Where The Wild Things Are

Terrible Yellow Eyes is a collection of artwork by an array of different artists inspired by illustrator Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are.

With the anticipated release of Spike Jonze’s amazing-looking adaption of the book it seems like the perfect time for endeavors like this one to pop up. And that’s good; this is a book that’s treasured as a classic and, come on, the movie has Spike Jonze at the helm. It deserves all the buzz it can get as far as I’m concerned.

This project isn’t about the film adaptation, though. Not exactly. It’s simply about honoring and celebrating the wild spirit of Maurice Sendak’s creation. In project organizer Corey Godbey’s own words this is “a visual love letter to the book,” and it’s quite lovely.

Be wild every once in a while, guys. It’s not a bad thing.
